Our Response to Legislation Changes in Queensland

August 23, 2024

As you may know, the Queensland Government has made updates to rental laws, some of which were put into effect earlier this month, on June 6 2024.

At Console Cloud, we understand that this may be a stressful time for you and your business, and we’re committed to assisting you in navigating these changes. Ensuring compliance with the new legislation is our priority, and we are here to help.

While there are a number of changes to rental legislation that may affect your Queensland business, the only reform that necessitates a change in the Console Cloud system is regarding the Rent Increase Frequency Limit, which will now be attached to the property, rather than the tenancy.

In order to help you and your business remain compliant with this new legislation, our teams have added the Most Recent Rent Review (if available) to a range of areas in Console Cloud.

Please note that if you are adding in a new property, the last rent review will not be available and you will need to take action to check the property notes or other sources to ensure compliance before completing a new Rent Review.

Where can I see the Most Recent Rent Review in Cloud?

Property Details, where you will be shown the Most Recent Rent Review, tenancy, the amount and the date of the last review when you click ‘view details’ on a property.

Tenancy Details, where you will be shown the Most Recent Rent Review (if available), tenancy, the amount and the date of the last review before adding a new Rent Review. This information is shown when adding a new Rent Review.

The New Tenancy Agreement Workflow, where you will be shown the Most Recent Rent Review (if available), the amount and the date of the last review before entering rent payable for a new tenancy. This information is shown when creating a new Tenancy Agreement, in the Agreement > Rent section.

The Lease Renewal Workflow, where you will be shown the Most Recent Rent Review (if available), amount and date of last review before preparing a new lease. This information will be shown when in the Lease Renewal Workflow upon preparing a new lease.
